the UK postal system is a mix of private - Royal Mail and public - Post Office so to me that's a hybrid system.
It's the same with the railways - TOCs are privately owned whilst the infrastructure is publicly owned by Network Rail

Sticky/dirty points in the regulator. Clean them with some very fine grit emery paper. (with the battery disconnected, of course.)

Bugger all to do with trains, but I've just noticed Donovan is still alive; aged 77.

Can anybody tell me what classic VW Beetle wheels
fit a YB?

I would like the vented type if possible. Looking on ebay, there are some really good bargains from time to time with complete refurbished wheels and new tyres, but I'm not sure whether it's the 5 studded classic with the open centre.

A friends car has an electronic regulator.
Occasionally the charge rate goes full scale.
De-clutch and let the revs drop till no charge, rev up and drive normally, problem solved till next time.
The regulator when fitted to another car does not exhibit the same symptoms.

Not the YT, but on our ZA Magnette we had a sloshing fuel problem. Strong smell of petrol in the cabin when turning right, a common comment from Magnette owners.
