FWIW, my two cents. If a bearing is even remotely suspect (rattly and stiff spots) it's junk. Replacement bearings are cheaper than knackered shafts and bearing housings. |

Tom. I am not sure what a "P.D.W.A." is. But, from the description of the problem believe that you are posting about the 75 and later dual master cylinder.

Just a quick update : sent the 48D4 to a distributor specialist in Victoria; he confirmed that the Lucas unit, springs, weights, shaft etc are all perfect. The Accuspark module apparently had too large a gap between it and the magnetic ring; a new unit was fitted and bench tested perfect. Whilst replacing the diff pinion oil seal I noticed one of the rear wheel bearings had a stiff spot. I removed it and cleaned it with boiling water and a dish washer tablet (in an old pan not the dishwasher). I have found this gets bearings perfectly clean and they dry almost immediately. My understanding is that the unboosted dual systems need to be centralised after bleeding by redoing the opposite side to the last one done until the light just goes out. For boosted dual systems partially unscrew the switch and that allows the shuttle to self-centralise during bleeding.
