    Sorry Anam, LD?

  • anamnesis02 May 2024

That's not a particularly LD charitable kind of attitude Jeremy. Or is it? Lol.

  • Jeremy MkIII02 May 2024

That's not on Guy. The brass necked cheek of some people. Suspect your friend didn't offer to park his car in their drive the next time they were away.
I'd have been tempted to sign outside their house saying 'They're on holiday, feel your boots whilst they're away!'

    Heinz sang,

"Whenever I'm sad, whenever I'm blue
    Whenever my troubles are heavy
Beneath the stars I play the guitar
    Just like Eddie"

    RIP. Duane Eddy.

He leaves zillions of great stuff behind.

My friend says it's a bit of a known thing here in Aust. not to drink water out of your garden hose that's been laying around in the sun because of legionella. Also that's something for you guys that are fitting up heat pumps (reverse cycle AC) to your homes. Same thing with legionella there in the crap trough inside your inside unit --it needs an annual clean --
On a brighter note my friend w...

  • GuyW01 May 2024

Dave , that is very true, at least with the well known 'traditional' spanners. They evolved so the length gave a comfortable feel to tightening the specific size of bolt for the average male. Unless you were using excessive force or adding extra leverage you were unlikely to overtighten a bolt when using the appropriate spanner. But I am not sure if that still holds true with different threads the...

  • Dave O'Neill 201 May 2024

Isn't there something about the length of a spanner being related to the amount of force you can apply to any particular fastener?

i.e. the smaller the head size of the nut or bolt, the shorter the spanner.

  • GuyW01 May 2024

Some years ago my friend very kindly offered to park his car (modern, NMC) on his neighbour's drive whilst they were away, to make it look like the house was occupied. He always thought they had a fairly long drive but reversing sharply on a dark night discovered it wasn't so long after all. He had backed into the wooden garage door, splitting one of the planks.

    Somewhat embarrassed, he...
